Dark Brown Black Stool

Belgrade, strategic crossroads of the New Europe

Vladimir Putin has scheduled for March 23 - a symbolic date: the day before the twelfth anniversary of the start of NATO against the heart of the Balkans - a visit to Belgrade.
The announcement took to counter the government in Belgrade filoatlantico: Putin's unilateral initiative represents a political and diplomatic. Putin is certainly not for tourism. And this visit also concerned Brussels and especially Washington, because a new destructive storm is coming from the "revolutions" in Arab countries, a situation that increases the presence of Russian energy policy in Europe are now at risk the gas and oil in North Africa .

Putin's visit will help resolve the suspicion that the Russian Serbian government, and filoatlantico unstable, can not enforce contracts signed with Moscow. This is especially the contract for the South Stream pipeline, whose construction should begin in Serbia in 2012. An agreement, as South Stream, signed in Sochi May 15, 2009, in the presence of Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi, among the gas companies of Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece.
It is known that the U.S. seek to block the creation of the South Stream is the new "southern branch" of the major euro-Russian energy grid. In theory Nabucco without promote their sources of supply, however, because Russia has already signed two years ago for long-term contracts to purchase and transport gas with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. They are the same countries from which were expected to supply the Nabucco American who has remained without these resources. The Americans now remains only Iran, but you know what their relationship ... Unless programs are an invasion of Iran Atlantic. In any case, the Nabucco pipeline is a ghost. With the EU forced to pay all costs of this project, even if you do not know who to buy gas. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have refused to sign the document submitted to its negotiating conference in Prague on May 8, 2010: support for the Nabucco was considered by them an anti-Russian project.
No longer able to realize the Nabucco the Atlantic, however, seek to prevent the construction of South Stream into Serbia, Belgrade, fearing it could become a key partner of Russia in the Balkans. With this obstruction, the U.S. also try to prevent the risk of a stronger euro-Russian strategic partnership.

The problem of the Atlantic is also in the fact that the citizens of Serbia do not share the Atlanticist tendencies of the Serbian government and want cooperation with Russia. And there is no doubt that Putin will remind the Serbian political leadership that the construction of South Stream would strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries ensuring energy stability to Serbia, not only the pipeline but also with stores Banatski Dvor with a capacity of 3.2 billion tons of liquid fuel-gas and transit fees on profits over € 200 million per year.
The strategic position of Serbia is central in the Balkans. No coincidence that the most important lines of communication between West and East through Serbia since ancient "Via militaris" who controlled the Danube. The Russian presence in Serbia upsets the plans of Atlantic economic occupation, military and political crossroads of Belgrade, already faded after the failure to sign, at the time, the Rambouillet Agreement. An agreement that the Serbs would not sign right then and now the Americans are trying to get the currently weak but coerced compliant pro-American government.
